March 11th Reflection

Today in class we went over the last class and what needs to be done for the last class presentation. I panicked a little because the presentation makes me nervous since a peer has to edit it... Oh, Well! I guess I have to just face it. I have almost completed my evaluation document. All I need to do is elaborate a little on each item I evaluated on the lessons. I find it hardest to evaluate myself as a lesson developer. I can constructively criticize my teaching, but it is more difficult for me to look back at my lesson to think what I could have done better. For some reason I have always struggled on that type of reflection.

One thing I wanted to mention in this reflection is my indifferent attitude about the ADDIE Model. I like the model, but I feel that it is much easier as a teacher to focus on a more backwards design with lesson planning. I think of what my end goal needs to be and then go backwards from there on. I also find myself using little parts of Merrill's First Principles of Instruction. I think, as I plan thematic units, which I do often as an ELA teacher, I need to really foc
