February 18th Reflection

Today we learned about the different models that go in to Teach Like a Champion. I was able to report on Chapter 4, which focuses on things like calling on students and student response. One thing that I found very interesting is that I use the strategies on almost a daily basis, but I call it something different and possibly tweak the implementation a little bit, but it makes me feel like my classroom is successful because I use these strategies. One strategy I have been really working on is my wait time. What I do is I ask a question, wait 3 LONG seconds, and then I re-ask the question. This increases the amount of participation and allows students to really soak in the question I have asked.
One strategy that I want to implement in my classroom is SLANT, after not only learning it from the group, but watching its success in the video, I think it would be a great management tool to use in my classroom. Unfortunately, I am thinking that it is a little too late to start it off
